I'm so sick of all the people on here acting like the real reason the cant get a date is because all women only want to date jerks who treat them the wrong way. you seem to completely ignore the fact that an inordinantly large percentage of women do in fact like guys that are jerks. it's the alpha male thing, chicks want an alpha male (can't blame'em, as guys we want the alpha female) you can't pull the wool over the eyes of thousands and thousands of years of evolution. most chicks will say they don't like jerks and they probably think this and really believe it, but they end up with them anyways. that being said guys that truly are nice guys are generally seen as pushovers by chicks. if you can be nice and make sure she knows you're not a pushover then you're better off for it. i've learned in my dating experience that a couple things increase your chance of getting a date, confidence and appearance are the big 2. if a girl thinks you're confident and you're dressed decently and you don't make yourself out to be a complete jackass then you can probably get a date.

Huh. Wow.The ironic thing is that you are making just as big of a generalization as they are. :| There are chicks who like to date jerks, even if they deny it. Plus, your example of a nice guy won't always ring true. Many girls prefer to keep the really nice guys as friends, since friendships are much more stable relationships and are less likely to end. Sure, there are nice guys out there getting laid all the time, but that's not always the case.

I think you took a bit too much offense to some of the common themes in OT, but I have to agree with your first point - how shy guys view themselves is not how others view them.
Quiet, withdrawn people come across as heartless or arrogant, depending on the few occasions they do speak. Huddled in a cocoon is not a good way to pick up chicks. They only way this will work is if they're placed in a locked room with a girl with similar personality disorders and they actually start speaking and realize that HOLY **BLEEP** this person isn't the serial killer I thought they were for so many years.
