Stephen Hawking ';very ill'; in hospital

One of the most brilliant minds since Einstein was rushed to hospital with a severe chest infection.Stephen Hawking was one of the people I most looked up to in life. (Along with Terry Fox). He overcame adversary and continued to use his incredible mind to help humanity become more knowledgable about the world around them. And he held a good sense of humour through all of his physical troubles. One of his most important theories is Hawking Radiation.Stephen Hawking ';very ill'; in hospital
I admire him too but I have to take a pessimistic view of this; we've been lucky to have him for as long as we have already.Stephen Hawking ';very ill'; in hospital
I hope he gets better. The man is basically the pinnacle of intellectualism.

just so you know stephen hawking is the most intelligent man on the planet :

Then you clearly know very little about the man.

This is terrible news.

I don't know anything about him, but I know he's always been ill, and isn't he in his 50s now? Or his 40s?With his condition I doubt he'd live long anyway, I know he has that wheelchair and he can't really speak.

Like I said, i'm a fan of his. However the ''pinnacle of intellectualism'' devalues the genius of many who became before who him, many, that I might add, that were probably more intelligent than he is. I am sure Hawking himself knows he's not the most intelligent man to ever live, not even the most intelligent man who is famous for being intelligent. After all, past all the well known scientists, philosophists and writers, we don't know much of the intelligence of millions of others who have existed.

i hope he gets better
That's a shame but he has lasted longer than many expected. Hope he recovers.

I don't know much of his philosophy or writing but I doubt it matches the brilliance of Kant or Shakespeare, you know what I mean? Also, you have no real basis on which to say that ''he is at least as smart as the great intellectuals before him''.
He is describied as the most intelligent man since Einstein.
Also, you have no real basis on which to say that ''he is at least as smart as the great intellectuals before him''.
Besides the fact that he has been arguably the most influential man in the field of theoretical physics for decades :

sure he does. he has just as much basis to say that as you can say that he's not the smartest man. its all opinion. no wrong/right.

He is primarily a theoretical physicist (much like Gordon Freeman, coincidence? I think not), and as a a physicist, he is arguably one of the greatest in the last century.

o..m...g. stephen hawkins=gordan freeman!? (one can hope)

That's exactly what I inferred. However just because he's a great scientist doesn't make him the ''pinnacle of intellectualism'' or ''smartest man on the planet.''
