Stuff to do in New York?

Some of my friends and i are leaving our Canadian igloos, and taking a dog sled down into the U.S.A to stay for a week in New York. Mush! They want to hit all the tourist spot of course... All i want to do is visit some awesome CD stores and maybe eat some delicious sushi. None of us have been there, but can anyone suggest some spots? I think were starting at Central park and working our way around from there. We will probably die, but until then... we shop.Stuff to do in New York?
I just like going into FAO Schwartz abd pretending im a 7 year old. :DStuff to do in New York?
Go to Broadway or off-Broadway and hit up a show. Plays and musicals are always fun.

Make sure you go to china town and buy some designer purses and watches for your whole family.
Make sure you go to china town and buy some designer purses and watches for your whole family.
Only if they are affordable and they assure us they are quality products!
Check out Canal st. near China Town, lots of cool stuff like fake sunglasses, watches, and bootleg DVDs. Dont go there at night though.

Flushing, Queens, is cool too.

And of course all the tourist spots.

You know what? I think thats a good idea. Is there any good bars or hidden gem CD stores in particular?

HOLY CRAP. There are a TON of sushi places in Manhattan.
Williamsburgh, Brooklyn is awesome. Check out Barcadia.

Theres a ton to do in NY. For good Sushi, check out Avenue A in the village. Interesting place to say the least. It has good food and thers a DJ spinning while your eating. lol.
check the apple store (''bottom right'' corner of central park) and the columbus square (''bottom left'' corner of central park - its got a mall)

eat at 1212 mars (or something) its a space restaurant. really weird stuff.

check out times square (toys r us with that wheel thingie you can sit in, in it - forgot the name)

check out heath ledgers apt where he was found dead - find the adress on the net

do lots of shopping. maybe visit st patricks cathedral (though thats not interesting unless youre an old and boring adult)

take the subway just for the heck of it.

visit bronx to holla at some bad guys. or maybe harlem.

OH, OH

go to the ''top of the rock'' its a observatory deck and its MUCH BETTER THAN EMPIRE STATE.

empire state = huge arse que + expensive + the view aint that great (dont get me wrong, its still amazing).

top of the rock (top of rockefeller center) is MUCH BETTER, and cheaper. + its got an awesome elevator.

go there at night :D ill never forget that view in my entire life. srsly.
If you are looking for a good CD place check outBleeker St RecordsIt was one of my favorite spots to pick up CDs. Speak to the people in there, they know their stuff. It's located in the heart of the NY campus area, which is a cool place to hang out and very tourist friendly. LOT'S of bars and places to eat., but can be very expensive if you don't know where to go.Kim's underground is another good spot for CDs and Video they specialize in some pretty obscure hard to find stuff..Going into the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island areas (the outer boros) can be a bit of an adventure and like most adventurous places best explored with someone who lives there. BUT they offer some of the most unique experiences in town and are often a step above Manhattan's sanitised venues.

Hm, that sounds kind of cool actually. As much as id like to check out the State building... id rather appreciate it from afar.

Thanks above for the cd store ideas, they seem fairly close and ill check them both out if i can. I like pretty random strange bands so Kims sounds great.
Nothing, New York is a very quiet town.
Another tip, Learn to measure distance by BLOCKS. which are basically streets, but if someone gives you directions they will probably say something like ''It's 3 blocks from here'' which is basically 3 streets over. Sounds simple but I'm always amazed when friends come into town and don't know what the hell I'm talking about. If you already knew this then, sorry.
Walk into Bank of America wearing a balaclava. You will be shot by lunchtime, guaranteed.
i reccomend north manhattan off central park. its called el barrio.
