Samurai vs. Spartan, Who Would Win :)

Okay so here's the deal, Samurais are claimed to be the greatest swordsmen of all time. In fact, the swords that they use, the katana, is the most well crafted sword in the world. It takes almost a whole year to make one katana and they could pretty much slice through anything. Samurais were crafted to slice and make their opponent feel as much pain as they can before they die. On the other hand, we have the mighty spartan who were supposedly trained at birth and could kill millions of Persians... Who would win?The Spartan or the Samurai? Samurai vs. Spartan, Who Would Win :)
Samurai: Blasphemy! This is madness!Samurai vs. Spartan, Who Would Win :)
katanas don't hold up too well to direct metal-on-metal contact, i.e. getting blocked by another sword. most shields have been made out of wood with metal edges too iirc, so that'd cause problems.

that said, spartans fought with spears in big formations. samurai used bows. :D
samurais swords are the best swords in the world  ?well they certainly didnt take years to make  you should maybe read up on katanas a bitheres a good place to start with more links at the bottom if your still interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katana
I sense lack of history knowledge in hereSamurais and Spartan soldiers fought at different ages...both used different warfare tactic. So in the movie ''300'' it was BS.Spartans fough in phanax formation and never used swords unless they had to.They were trained since their childhood because they needed a good discpline to fight at that formation. They were the bests at phanax formationSamurias would simply slaughter any Greek soldier at that time in hand to hand combat.....Not to mention the differences between the armor.Eastern armors were very effective leaving ancient Greek equipment pricelessAnd no Spartans weren't that mighty....don't live with hollywood people !!!
It doesn't take a year to make a katana, more like a few months.Anyways, Spartans were pretty consistently trained from birth, and so were Samurai for the most part, It really depends. In a one vs one sword fight the Samurai would win. In an arena fight with a spartan with a spear and a Samurai with a katana, the spartan would win. And if it was a legion of Spartans vs a group of Samurai, the Spartan's would definitely win.
as much as i love Spartans...its easy to say that samurai's would kick their asses....hard....i mean really hard....

Teh Spartans killed those Samurai doodz in 300.

and in groop combat where there is phanax line, I'd still bet on SamuriaAs they're more mobilized and a fast unit, they could easily find a weak spot in the line and get in to Spartan line slaughtering them easily(there is somethinhg called strategy and rear part of a unit)

like i mentioned, situationally good swords. they sucked against hard armor, which simply wasn't used anywhere but europe in the middle ages, which is why they started using maces and blunt weapons instead.

everybody seems to think as if katanas are much lighter than regular long swords or something. they're slightly flexible, which makes them really good at cutting through unarmored things.

In one by one - samurai, katana is one of deadliest weapons maded by human But in bigger battles - Spartans :) Thay have better trening in fighting in groups.
Individual: The samurai would win.Team: Spartans would win.

I mean come on hundreds upon hundreds of years later we have way, way more improved ways of smelting. It would be easy to get a sword now a days which stomps all over an ancient katana. And they were the best type of sword for a certain situation. sword on sword they would have sucked, thats why samurais largely avoided confrontations which would have resulted in a sword on sword fight.
This is madness!
Neither. :D
where is the Ninja in all this??????
