I don't remember anything I learned in high school. I learned stuff, made good grades, but then forgot everything in less than a year later. Took psychology in highschool, then took it again in college. I know I learned a lot of the same material in HS but I had to re learn it all again, same with history. And I know I'll just forget all this stuff again in the future. Already I don't remember half of the stuff I learned in biology last year. A lot of stuff was interesting, but really what did I get out of any of these classes? Close to nothing...What's the point of learning stuff in school if you just forget it?
Education is a continuing process. You'll find out later that some of the more practical things you learn have good uses. What's the point of learning stuff in school if you just forget it?
Would you rather have started working when you were like 8 years old?

To me, there's stuff that you should learn, and stuff that really needs to be optional. But on the overall, it's just stuff that makes you look good for college, and then for a job.
I completely agree.
Because you can never know what you will learn that's important later on and what you'll forget.
So your saying that since high school you've forgotten everything? What about maths. Do you still know how to do maths? ProbablyWhat about English. Can you no longer write essays etc.?I think you can see where I am going with this.
So, what you're saying is that either you're an idiot and the grading system is based off of work ethic rather than information retention, or you're an idiot and school is a very important breeding ground for basic learning skills?
I guess the first one if I must choose. I can study and hold a bunch of information to pass a test, but that information only stays there for so long.
Hmm.....I remember quite a bit of what I learned in school.
The purpose of school is to get socially active/meet new people and get new friends, as well as make sure have get a good work ethic for the future when you go to college, and then get a job.Basically, school isn't about learning a bunch of random info, it is to prepare you for the future.
You remember a lot of what you learn in school. Besides school is also there to make social interactions and help you form an opinion and developed mind. The process of learning helps you to become a smarter and more rounded person. You may not remember anything, but you still learn the experiences you had.

I actually forgot a ton of math since highschool, and I have been re learning in my classes. I'm sure I will forget math again after I'm finished with college. The only thing I learned from English class is how to BS papers.
i think it is because u barely use it. it what i thought about it. look at basic math stuff u use that every day.

Yeah, it's crazy how much math CS/engineering majors have to go through, and after they graduate most likely they will never use it again.
Really? You can't read, write, do math, etc? Who's typing for you?
Yeah, it's crazy how much math CS/engineering majors have to go through, and after they graduate most likely they will never use it again.
Unless they actually make it into a CS or engineering career :P Have any idea how much calculus goes into a simple design for a bottle? You've got to minimize that plastic and maximize that volume and stuff, yo.
ya ur rite. i dint go to skool %26 lewk how i turnd up.
Because school is mostly there to train you to a certain way of doing things. Remembering what you've learned is just a bonus. It's also to keep you out of trouble while you're young.
I've forgotten a lot of stuff I learned in high school also (mostly history), but then again, I've been out of high school for quite a while.
I'm in grade 10 and this year i'm starting to realize that the stuff we're learning is actually important, at least for the type of job i want. but i still think they give us too much information in such a short period of time, you will forget most of the things they teach.
