If jesus was just another human being and God was just his dellusion, why O why would he go through so much agony and torture just cuz he wanted to not give up his dellusions?:?I just cannot buy it...One huge barrier standing between me and atheism...
People do all sorts of things in the name of faith. History is littered with martyrs who willingly burnt at the stake as oposed to recanting. One huge barrier standing between me and atheism...
Don't buy it then.
Have you not heard of terrorism? If people believe in something enough, real or unreal, they are willing to do anything, even if it means death.
You might say hallucinogenic drugs give you delusions.People have died fighting for drugs...
becaue he knew if he was killed he would become immortal in legend.. whoever the guy was who betrayed him knew this, thats why he did it.. you can be a crazy man spreading all these stories around, and maybee some people will believe you, but if you are killed because of it, people think you mightve been legit because the higher powers were soo afraid of you.
and look it was sucessful, jesus is a household name now. moses was killed too by his own troops but its not very well known because the bible dosn't come out and say it outright. ( watch the episode about moses and the exodus on discovery channel's battles bc) and mohammehd wasnt killed..and hey look.. jesus and christianity are the most popular of the 3 religions.
im guessing that as he was getting nails hammered into his limbs, he wanted out. unfortunately for jesus, there was no ''uncle'' option.
Well, if we assume Jesus to be an ordinary man, who's to say the Bible is correct?Maybe he was crucified because he killed another man or woman, maybe he wasn't crucified at all, maybe it's all made up.I believe Jesus lived, and that he was at least a prophet if nothing else
jesus couldnt feel pain anyway oh wait that was supermanim always getting the two confused

This r thric, but its prolly not you lol.
If jesus was just another human being and God was just his dellusion, why O why would he go through so much agony and torture just cuz he wanted to not give up his dellusions?:?I just cannot buy it...
He was stubborn? Or maybe crazy? When people really believe something, they do anything to keep it going. People always act like Jesus was the only one who has suffered ''for our sins''. I don't even want to know how many people have died ''protecting'' or as martys of christianity.
Well perhaps you are giving the story of Jesus a bit more credulity then it deserves? And people dying for their beliefs is hardly new or surprising.
People fight and die for their beliefs, but it does not legitimize them. Perhaps Jesus was convinced that he was the son of God, and that, upon death, he would be resurrected/ascend to heaven to be with God. Under these circumstances, and presuming he believed unquestioningly that this was true, I have little doubt he would be willing to die, given his beliefs. I don't like using this example, but, for similar reasons, Muslim suicide bombers kill themselves, believing they are doing Allah's bidding. It all comes down to how convinced of one's beliefs one is.
You assume he was real, first off.
maybe because he didn't go through agony or torture, and that was all a lie?
Wth are we supposed to believe then? Maybe everything is a lie I mean wtf?:?
People will go to all sorts of lengths for their beliefs. This monk burnt himself to death as a protest to the government

maybe because he didn't go through agony or torture, and that was all a lie?
Wth are we supposed to believe then? People dying protecting their faith is not the same thing, they have a strong ''belief'' in God, whereas someone like jesus and moses claims to ''know'' that there is a God, there's quite a difference between the 2...

It's a more surmountable barrier than an angel wielding a fiery sword.
